Banjul, The Gambia (TNBES)Banjul United FC played a goalless draw against Flemings FC in the opening of the Gambia Football Association (GFA) Second Division League at Serrekunda West football ground on Friday 26 February 2010.
Our reporter didn’t Miss sight of the wonderful talents showcased as well as brilliant performances put up by both sides in the opening minutes of the game.
Flemings Sulayman Cham came close but was denied a chance when he clashed with goalkeeper Pa Babou Cham just 2 minutes into play, the clash earned Cham a free-kick.
United’s Ousman Secka made a brilliant run on the far side of the field and delivered a powerful ball in the face of the post, however, Ismalia Samba’s shot in the 19th minute way off the post.
The second half saw United’s Saihou Jallow takes a powerful shot in the 50th minute but the ball went wide. Kemo’s 89th minute powerful shot deflected off a defender, Fleming’s final chance leaves the result of the game at 0-0.
Other matches includes a 0-0 draw between Serrekunda East and Lamin United in Brikama, while at the Father Gough Sport Complex in Manjai, Serrekunda United defeated Nema United by 1-0. VOL:2 ISSN:110
