Steve Biko Taste First Defeat

Banjul, The Gambia (TNBES) Steve Biko suffered their first defeat in three fixtures in week three of the GFA 1st Division Football league after they went down to a lone goal against Banjul outfit, Gamtel over the weekend at the Serrekunda West Mini
Stadium.

Modou Sarr headed Malamin Singhateh’s cross from the far right side of the field in to the net in the 51st minute to put his side in front with a 1-0 lead.

Biko mounted pressure on Gamtel to equalize but the city boys where very mindful of Biko strikers. Abou Sallah penalty box header in the 72nd minute was inches away
from the post. However, in the 76th minute Biko were a goal down and a man down
when Kekuta Manneh was sent-off for a reckless challenge on Sarjo Jarju Sey.
Gamtel's Lamin Marana was also send-off after heating Kekuta Manneh on the face
in retaliation to the foul on his team mate.

Biko came closer to leveling the scores in the 87th minute but Abou Sallah's long rang effort was well read by the Telecommunication Boys shot stopper, Musa
Camara.

Steve Biko Coach expressed his disappointment with the results after his side failed to take at least one of many chances to punish their opponents.

"I am very disappointed about the result, because we have many goals scoring opportunities but fail to score," he told Voice Sports in a post match
interview.

"I am not satisfied with the way my boys played, but we will go back to the training ground and work on our problems, I am not satisfied with the referee too, but I
cannot do anything about it, just to obey as his decision is final," he
said.
