FA CUP HOLDERS WITHDREW FROM CAF CUP

Banjul, The Gambia (TNBES) Observer Sport: The Gambia FA Cup Champions, Young Africans, have confirmed their withdrawal from the continent’s second-most prestigious club competition in CAF’s Confederation Cup.

The Banjul based club defined all the odds last season by defeating number of big guns including Wallidan, Gambia Armed Forces and Gamtel, on their way to winning the FA Cup for first time in their history.

And as the winners, Young Africans are excepted to represent The Gambia at the Confederation Cup but their decision to pull out means The Gambia hasn’t been represented at the tournament since 2007 season when Hawks
participated.

Young Africans new head coach Amat Cham confirms the team’s withdrawal to West Coast Radio and Gambia Sports Online in a recent interview, albeit the new Coach will not elaborate on reasons behind
their withdrawal.

“No we are not going” answering the question put forward to him by West Coast’s Baboucarr Njie if they will be participating at tournament. “I can’t tell you much about it but I can confirm to you that we are not going”
Cham said. VOL:2 ISSN:58
