World Cup 2014: Nigeria enjoys narrow win over Bosnia-Herzegovina

Peter Odemwingie scored the only goal in the 29th minute to secure Nigeria's first win in 16 years at this stage, the Fifa World Cup.

The current African champions have failed to win a single game since France 98' before Saturday's win at the  Arena Pantanal in Cuiaba, Brazil.

Bosnia-Herzegovina had an Edin Dzeko goal controversially ruled offside in the 22nd minute.

The Super Eagles are in a good position to reach the knockout stages of the round of 16, but they must ensure at least a draw in their final game or hope Iran, with whom they draw in the opening, fails to win their final group match.
 
Nigeria have twice reached the FIFA World Cup round of 16 and have defeated Spain and Bulgaria in 1998 to reach the second round.

Earlier in the day, group F leaders Argentina defeated Iran 1-0 at the Estadio Mineirao in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Messi's last minute gasp took his side on 6 point at the top. 

Nigeria's final group game is against Argentina at the Estadio Beira-Rio in Porto Alegre on June 25 at 1600GMT. Group opponents Iran will play Bosnia-Herzegovina at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador same day same time.
