World Cup 2014: Ghana fails to secure first win but still alive

We where all saying it is a win for Ghana as Asamoah Gyan fired them into the lead at 2-1 but Miroslav Klose was having none of that. He equalled Brazil's Ronaldo 15 goals record and forced a German Machine draw against the Black Stars (Photo: Getty Images)
The Black Stars fail to secure a win yet again after Saturday's 2-2 draw with Germany at the Estadio Castelao in Fortaleza.

The results left them with only 1 point in group G where Germany is top with 4 points followed by USA with 3 points while Portugal languishes at the bottom. Ghana had lost their opening game to the USA.

Mario Götze took the lead 51 minutes for Germany before Ghana brought the game back on level terms through Andre Ayew three minutes later.

Black Stars striker Asamoah Gyan put Ghana ahead with a 63 minute strike but it was not over till Miroslav Klose equalled Ronaldo (Luis Nazario Delima's) 15 goals world cup record by scoring an equaliser in the 71st minute.

Gyan's goal means he equalled Cameroon's Roger Miller's record of scoring 5 goals in the world cup - as  highest scoring Africans at the game's biggest stage.

The group is still wide open and all four teams are in contention for places in the round-of-16-knock-out-stage.

Meanwhile, the USA will take on Portugal on Sunday at the Arena Amazonia in Manaus. The outcome of that game will be decisive going into the final round of group matches.

Ghana's final group game is against Portugal at the Estadio Nacional in Brasilia on June 26 at 1600GMT, while both Germany and USA will be hoping to finish first position when the two sides meet at the Arena Pernambuco in Recife same day same time.
