The public called on to scritinise voter list
The General Registration of Voters Exercise was conducted from Thursday 5th May 2011 to Friday 17th June 2011. The provisional number of registered voters is 837, 029.
Consequently, in accordance with Section 19 subsections (4) and (5) and Section 132 of the Elections Act, the IEC will publish at all Registration Centres the list of voters for a period of at least ten days to enable members of the public to scrutinise the list.
The list of voters will be available for viewing from Monday, 18th July 2011.
Everyone is being encouraged to take this opportunity and participate fully in this very essential component of the electoral process.



IEC to conduct a correction exercise
Precisely, in the evening of the 25th May 2011, the laptop the registration team assigned at the Dippakunda Mosque Centre was using to register claimants got stolen. Prior to this unfortunate event, the senior registration officer for that area had already exported the information for that week (19th to 25th May) to the USB flash drive.
However, it has been found out that the data has been corrupted and the laptop has not yet been found. Consequently, according to consensus reached at between the political parties and the IEC and in accordance with Section 19 subsection (6) of the Elections Act, the IEC will conduct a correction exercise on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th July 2011 at Dippakunda Mosque Registration Centre commencing at 9.00am daily.
All affected persons are to come with their voter’s cards.
