Young Ngalling Sonko Are Champions of Ndofan U-15 Finals

Banjul, The Gambia (TNBES) Young Ngalling Sonko defeated Berending FC in the final of U-15
Nawettan in Ndofan in an 11-10 penalty shootout.
The Nawettan final of the Lower Niumi District village of Ndofan, was played on 7th March 2010, at the Biri Biri Football Ground in Ndofan Village after the non-league (Nawettan) season had close
almost five months ago.

Our reporter said the reason behind the delay is that the committee always wants to schedule a date for the final that will be suitable for the likes of former Gambian international, the Independence Stadium Manager
and GFA President to grace the occasion.

“They want people like Biri Biri, Musa Njie and Seedy Kinteh to have the chance to attend the final, that is why it was played at last on March 7, 2010,” Voice Sports
Alieu Bobb said.

The cream of junior football resides in Berending at the moment as the two finalists (Young Ngalling Sonko and Berending FC) both hailed from the village of Berending in the North Bank Region.

Amadou Joof of Berending FC opens the score sheet in the 6th minute of the game with a sensible finish. However, his side’s lead was short lived as Young Ngalling’s Alsan Joof
level the scores with a stunning equalizer in the 7th minute.

Berending FC were awarded a penalty in the 27th minute when goalkeeper Amadou Jallow of Young Ngalling brought down Kuruma Jatta in the penalty box, and Kuruma makes no mistake when he slotted the ball
into the net from the spot to put the
score line at 2-1 for the first period.

As action resumes, Young Ngalling took the game to their home rivals with renewed strength and it proves vital, as they score from the spot after Modou Camara’s brilliant header in the 32nd minute was
deliberately handled by Berending’s defender, Amadou Joof and the referee
wasted no time in sending him off.

The game ended 2-2 at full time and Young Ngalling won by 11-10. They were awarded a trophy and cash prize of D1000, while the runners-up, Berending FC received D500. Vol:2 Issn:127
