Armed Forces grab First Win

Banjul, The Gambia (TNBES) The Gambia Armed Forces grab their first victory in week-four of Gambia Football Association First Division League against Banjul outfit, Real De Banjul at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium over the Weekend.

Real could have taken the lead in the 39th minute when Ousman Touray found himself one-on-one with the soldier's goalkeeper, however, his rocket shot was punch away by Ebrima Saidykan. Minute later Armed Forces also responded quickly with a good shot from Alagie Fofana from the edge of the penalty box, which was well read by Real's goalkeeper, Alagie Modou Jobe at the opposite end.

Real could have punished the defending champions, Armed Forces after a defensive blunder saw Domingo Manneh collect a weak clearance from Amadou Sambou in the 74th minute. Manneh's shot
was an inch from shaking the net. Armed Forces maintained an average dominance
of the game and came closer again in the 80th minute as Kaba Jobe shot from a
Modou Sarr cross was only denied by the post.

In the 82nd minute, Kaba Jobe finally put his name on the score sheet when he headed from close range, a Joseph Jabang cross from the right side of the field, to give his side their
first victory in four outings, in this year's league season.

Speaking to Voice Sports, Kaba Jobe told our reporter that he feel very happy to have collected the three points for his new team. "I feel very happy to score the only goal of the
game and if God wish I will continue scoring goals," the former Gamtel striker
tells Voice Sport. He admitted that every game is difficult but as a striker
you most fight very hard to score.

On his part, Coach Pa Samba Mbenga of Real De Banjul argued that his side was better in the first half, technically. He said that football is all about scoring goals, if you have a
chance to score, you did not score, if your opponent has they will score.

“We will go back to our drawing board to rectify our mistakes and continue scoring goals," he said.

For Coach Alagie Sey of Armed Forces, the game was good, Real is being a big team, who ever wins against them is great. "We've played three games and in all those games we score first,
but always end up in a draw but this time we do a lot of home work with the
defence line to deal with such mistakes," he said. VOL:2 ISSN:56
