(Daily News) Main opposition UDP’s presidential candidate said, dictators
are afraid of the ballot, calling on Gambians to show president Jammeh that
their weapon to protect their country is their votes.
Ousainou Darboe said, lots of unfortunate incidents have happened under Jammeh’s 17 year rule. He cited incidents of disappearance of journalists, opposition politicians and even security officers.
The UDP leader made this remark while addressing a mass political rally in North Bank region of Gambia where he kicked off his nationwide campaign ahead of the Nov. 24 presidential election.

The UDP leader made this remark while addressing a mass political rally in North Bank region of Gambia where he kicked off his nationwide campaign ahead of the Nov. 24 presidential election.
The entourage was accorded a rousing welcome in Essau where they held their first meeting. Meetings were held in Ndungu Kebbeh, Batanding Wolof, Darsilami, Sallikenye and Katchang all in North Bank region of The Gambia.
The communities of rural administrative region assured the UDP presidential aspirant of landslide victory come Nov 24.
Speaker upon speaker at NBR meetings assured Darboe of victory. As one of the speakers put it: “victory for UDP is a foregone conclusion.”
Addressing one of the rallies, Darboe called on his supporters to remain calm and observe the rule of law.
“I know some people will come here to give money, which they have not done before, but say No to their money. It is your vote that can determine your future. Never exchange your vote for money,” Darboe said.
Darboe highlighted that the economy of the country is stagnating, the prices of basic communities escalating on daily basis while income levels remain low.
