Gambian Social Justice Activist to Attend Global Workshop – Fair

(Mansa Banko) Mamadou Edrisa Njie Social Justice Activist cum Journalist from The Gambia will be attending a Global Youth Innovation Workshop Fair from 10- 13 October in Cononou, Benin.

 The Youth Innovation Workshop Fair is organized to honor and celebrate young entrepreneurs’ achievements. 
The specific objectives of this event are: To bring together youths to share their perspectives and ideas in relation to their business models, to work toward solutions to common problems, and to enable the participants to showcase their products and services and share best practices.
Phelps Stokes and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), in collaboration with the Government of Benin, Activos Culturales Afro (ACUA), Palmares Fundacao, and Give1Project organized the even and cordially invited Gambian social justice activists cum journalist to attend as a participant and a facilitator.  
He will be presenting a paper on “How Irresponsible Use of Water Can Affect Communities (Rural and Urban).
The proposed workshop, dubbed “Youth Entrepreneurs – Agents of Change,” will bring together young entrepreneurs, representatives of agribusiness companies, business associations, civil society, as well as representatives from national, regional, and international development agencies to share their experiences on the promotion of agribusiness development and innovation in Western and Central Africa.
For the workshop fair, participants are invited primarily from Western and Central African regions. UN agencies, youth organization and entrepreneurs’ organizations in the region are invited to share with participant’s information on programs to support youths in agribusiness. In order to ensure political support and effective follow-up on decisions from the workshop, the project will engage with the relevant entrepreneurs for their participation and contributions at the workshop.
Information and decisions reached at the workshop will be contained in a workshop report that will be prepared at the end of the event and posted on the workshop web site.
The program will include plenary sessions, workshops, business meetings, a fair, and an interactive online segment.
 The benefits of the workshop don’t end here, though. There will be several other long-lasting outputs of the event which includes Global Youth Virtual Platform, Communication and Advocacy and Data Collection and Analysis.
Mamadou Edrisa Njie is the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of both Youth Responsible Tourism Association (YORTA), and Jarumeh Koto Youth Development Association, Second Vice President Young Journalists Association of The Gambia (YJAG) and a member Global Unification The Gambia (GU). At the Gambia News and Report Weekly Magazine, he holds the position of Ag. Editorial Assistant and Newsroom Coordinator.
