Journalist Dodou Sanneh’s trial adjourned


The absence of the prosecution witness has hold back the trial of Journalist Dodou Sanneh on 20th June 2011 at the Banjul Magistrate Court presided by Magistrate Manyima Bojang.
Sanneh, a former reporter for Gambia Radio and Television Service (GRTS) is standing trial on one count of giving false information to a public officer. He denied any wrong denied.

On Monday, prosecutor Superintendent Sainey Joof told the court that he is applying for an adjournment because the witnesses have gone on trek. Meanwhile, Sanneh is not represented by a counsel and he did not object to the prosecutor’s application. The case will resume on 23rd June 2010.
Sanneh was sacked on 8th September 2006, while covering the presidential campaign for the United Democratic Party (UDP), got reinstated within a week, and giving 20 days working leave only to be sacked again on 20th November 2006.
His trial emanate from a petition he wrote to President Yahya Jammeh concerning the unlawful termination of his job.
