He said the Jalsa Salana has been described by the Holy Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat as one of the “branches of the revival” of Islam. The world is caught in a chain of moral injustice thus the numerous conflicts and crises (economic, social, political and religious) facing the world and moral injustice has left the world in moral degradation and turmoil.
“High standards of morality should be upheld for peace to be attained in all walks of life. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) has described morality and modesty as the distinctive feature of Islam,” he said.
According to him, greed is a social and moral disease and the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said it devour good works the way fire devours wood. In other words, greed is a primary factor in social disruption and political economic crises.
He stressed that people must learn the higher morals of self discipline, restraint, contentment, humility, selflessness, tolerance, obedience and righteousness, in order to bask in sunshine of peace, mutual love and brotherhood.
He noted that higher standard of morality pave the path to love and pleasure of Allah the Almighty.
He said Allah, the Almighty created the universe with truth and a perfect balance and therefore instructed man to be truthful and balance in his actions. A Muslim must not harm anyone with his strength or tongue, and truthfulness is the bedrock of all good manners.
On his part, the Governor of the Lower River Region (LRR) Lamin Waa Juwara said they have a long-standing association with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat through education since the First Republic of The Gambia.
He said Ahmadiyya Muslims are characterized by discipline. He said freedom of religion is very important in The Gambia because it allows people to belong to the religion of their choice.
Governor Juwara urged the delegates to pray for the peace, stability and transparency for the country and her people.
