Police Intervention Avert Near Death, Society Shocked

Banjul, The Gambia (TNBES) People in The Gambia received with shock the unprecedented incident between Giboro-Kuta and Gidda that caused near death, thanks to the quick intervention of the Police, without which, people in the Western Region and The Gambia would have been in mourning and
nursing in this time.
It is sad to see people taking violence as an option to solve problems. Such conflicts were both parties took up machetes to roll each others heads were battles fought since time immemorial.

The Babylon Case should have been enough food for taught and responsible citizens should have had alternative dispute resolutions options rather than taking up arms. “We are no more in that time, where people would
have to shed blood to settle their grievances.”

The police have done a good home work by averting not only injuries to the parties involved but the loss of lives. This kind of conflicts has cost people in the past, their wealth, livelihoods and to a large extent
their lives.

We believe that we all one and the same and should work together for the betterment of the future generation. To our view, the land in question that led to the two sides taking up arms should not be the only
available plot to the two communities.

One thing should have been, both sides joining forces to make that land a community farm and even initiate the farm produce to something that would benefit both.

Since the case is in court, we would not want to delve deep into the matter, but we only hope that this unusual event will have no place in our society any time, anywhere.

Violence can never be a solution to a problem, even if it does; the horrors will always be there for people to remember. VOL:2 ISSN:75
