Gamtel Bounce Back as League Leaders


As Interior and Biko Played a Goalless Draw
 Banjul, The Gambia (TNBES) Gamtel fought back to the top of the 1st Division Football League with a 4-2 win over third place, Seaview on Sunday at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium, with only three games left in the first half of the competition.
Seavew took the lead through Alige Ceesay’s magnificent header in 14th minute, however their lead lasted for only five minutes as Gamtel’s Alagie Amadou Ngum sensational free-kick in the 19th minute brought the game all square.
Both teams headed into the break with the goals being at 1-1. Nonetheless, Gamtel took the lead again in the 54th minute with a near post finish from Ousainou Manneh. The third and fourth goal came courtesy of Modou Sarr in the 70th and 91st minute respectively.
However, Gamtel were reduced to ten men in the 73rd minute when Alagie Amadou Ngum was sent-off for a foul on Seaview skipper, Nuha Jatta, while Kemo Fatty grabbed Seaview’s second goal in the 76th minute
from a spot kick after Ousainou Manneh handled the ball inside his court. The win takes Gamtel at the top of the table with 16 points from 8 games while Seaview collects seven out of seven.
In another encounter on Sunday, Interior and Steve Biko played a goalless draw at the Father Gough Sport Complex in Manjai.
 The game which was rather too close to call also shows Interior’s Pa Dodou Sarr red carded in the in the 69th minute for a deliberate foul on a Steve Biko player in front of assistant referee.VOL:2 ISSN:112
