Banjul, The Gambia (TNBES) George Oetelmans and Kadijatou Camara were on Tuesday arranged before Magistrate Joseph Ikpala of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.
The Deutsch national and his Gambian accomplice are facing charges of conspiracy to commit felony, to wit: trafficking in obscene publication and exposing an indecent picture, Contrary to Section 368 of the Criminal Code Cap 10 Volume III Laws of The Gambia.
The particular of offence on Count One stated that George Oetelmans and Haddijatou Camara on the month of November 2009, at Fajara conspired among others to commit felony to wit: traffic in obscene publication.
Count two stated that George Oetelmans on or about the month of November 2009, exhibited an indecent picture of Hadijatou Camara thereby committed an offence.
Both accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.
Applying for bail, the Defence Counsel, Kabba Sanyang said the offence committed is bailable, arguing that the accused persons has spent almost one week under police custody.
He also argued that the first accused person is a hypotenuse patient and if not granted bail his health condition can be worst. He assured the court that if they are granted bail the accused persons will be available at any time the court need them and will not interfere with police investigation.
However, Prosecutor Cadet Inspector Mballow objected to the bail application made by the defence counsel, but his objection was overruled by the court.
Subsequently, Magistrate Ikpala granted the accused persons bail in the sum of D250, 000 each and order them to deposit their traveling documents to the registrar’s office.
The case has been adjourned till 21st January 2010. VOL:2 ISSN:30
