But Serrekunda East Jumps The Gun
Banjul, The Gambia (NBES) Report monitored from The Point Newspaper stated that if the latest report from the President of The Gambia Football Association (GFA), Seedy Kinteh is anything to go by, the investigation surrounding the zonal final controversy will soon be available to the public.
Speaking to the Paper in an interview, Seedy Kinteh said the taskforce has already submitted their reports to the Football Association and they are expected to decide on the matter surrounding the hooliganism that erupted at the Serekunda West Mini Stadium.
“The taskforce has already submitted their reports and that we would look into it before finally deciding what steps to take,” Kinteh was quoted as telling Point Sports.
According to Point Sport, the news has caused a public debate among the sporting fraternity and fans, in particular, are anxious to hear the final decision of the GFA. The latest report from the FA will soon clear doubts at to whether the decision will fail them or not.
This comes following the controversial abandonment of the final of the Muhammed Jammeh Perpetual Cup Competition between Serekunda East and Bakau on 13th December 2009. The Gambia football association, which is the umbrella body charged with the affairs of football in the country has since set up a special taskforce to investigate the impasse surrounding the final.
However, Voice Sports also gathered recent media reports that Serrekunda East has held a victory celebration for the second time without the decision as to what steps will be taken have not been given by the GFA.
Reasons for the celebrations are based on the fact that they were leading with a 1-0 score before the game was called-off. Whatever the decision of the GFA will be, since it has not been made public yet, it is undisputable that Serrekunda East Sports Committee are Jumping the gun. VOL:2 ISSN:24
